Lesson 4 in Setting up - "Monetization" and Promotion

While we are waiting on an answer re: the TOS question, let's move on to a couple of things we can do right now.
There is also a possible free host that pays you to send them traffic, but I want to check them out before I recommend them.

The first issue is what is called "monetization". Basically that's making money from your blog. Obviously, that's what we're here for. But there are other ways to make money from website traffic then pushing sales to our sponsors.

The term PPC (Web industry term - Pay Per Click) can be used to mean you are buying traffic from a vendor on a PPC basis, or that you are selling traffic to a sponsor on a PPC basis. We're going to be doing the second. We don't want to be spending money on our sites. The good thing here is we don't even have to make sales; all we have to do is provide the link on our site, and if someone clicks it, we make a penny or two or three.

At this time, I'm going to recommend two programs:

ALT.com is a subprogram of Adult Friend Finders; you are signing up to promote those two plus any number of niche "personals". They have a lot of different ways to promote all these sites as well.

An example of this kind of ad can be found in the sidebar at
http://bondagewhores.thumblogger.com
This is a new bondage blog I'm putting together

So what you'll do is to sign up from the button link above, and then choose the program that fits your niche - they have latina, asian, gay etc etc.

The next program I will recommend is AVN Ads
You'll notice there is no affiliate code for them; that's how much I like this program.
You can see these ads on this site in both the sidebar, and on the bottom of the page.

Go ahead and click one.

Ahhhhh, another penny in the jar. Thank you, kind gentleperson.
AVN is aka adbrite, and you'll be getting email under the adbrite URL from them. Another good thing about this program is that they eventually start keeping pretty good stats on your site, so you'll be able to keep a running count of how many people are visiting your sites.

Don't forget to log this information into your spreadsheet when you sign up, and that's the last time I'll remind you about that ;) I will go into more detail about implementing these onto your site, but right now we'll begin the promotion of your site.

Start by setting up an account at:
How to get into the online adult industry with no out of pocket expense. How to use free content, free services

This is a "buddy review" system of websites. You get traffic by logging on and reviewing other's sites. I'm not really all that thrilled about the amount of traffic I recieved, but I believe it helped me get indexed a lot quicker (I have since sold the site I signed up for this program).

I do not recommend paying $50 for the advanced membership; I did, and that made me an affiliate of their's, so if you decide to do that go ahead and put money in my wallet, but realize we're not supposed to be spending money on this website. Just get the traffic, and yourself indexed.

Another benefit is the possibility of networking you can find on link referral. I had been looking for someone to write bondage stories for me, and found two people via the linkreferral sytem through reviews of my site.

In addition, sign up with bloglinker on the sidebar, and with masterstats at the bottom of the page.
I'm starting to fade here, so I'm going to wrap up for tonight.

Let's see, what do I owe you at this point?
1- How to set up a pic on your blog that points to a sponsor gallery
2- Integrating your PPC ads onto your blog
3- Adding links via bloglinker (and it's pitfalls)

And let's add
4- Using the webmaster boards for knowledge and profit

Cool, see ya next time!
